In addition to trained crew, Viking Line’s ships have modern technology and equipment. Competent crew and modern technology, such as video surveillance on board, create a safe environment. That’s why it is also important that the technology is up-to-date and meets the latest requirements.
Preventive measures and co-operation with the authorities
Through preventive measures we minimise the risk of offences and disturbances on board. We can raise the security level if required. Viking Line continuously carries out risk analyses and maintains close contacts and co-operation with different authorities, including the police, Customs, Border Guard, and social services.
With the help of a determined strategy and precise processes we aim to prevent disturbances and illegalities. We want, for example, to avoid the negative consequences resulting from excessive consumption of alcohol, and hence we act responsibly in selling and handing over alcohol. We also aim to minimise material damage caused on board. All kinds of incidents are evaluated afterwards, so that we can further develop the safety and security of the passengers and crew members.
Our mission is that you will feel safe on board our ships. Everyone, regardless of their requirements and wishes, shall be able to enjoy the voyage without needing to worry about their safety.
The ship’s info desk shall be contacted in serious cases of illness
There is always a trained nurse on board Viking Line’s ships. On route Mariehamn–Kapellskär accidents and cases of illness are being treated by competent trained crew. The nursing premises have special equipment for treatment of acute cases. If necessary, we will arrange immediate ambulance transport from the first port of call to the nearest hospital. In more serious cases we can use helicopter transport or evacuation boat. In acute cases of illness you shall contact the ship’s info desk which will then contact the nurse on board.
