M/S Viking Grace

M/S Viking Grace is in traffic on the route Turku–Åland Islands–Stockholm together with Viking Glory.

The vessel represents a totally new generation where modern design, future concepts, high standard of services and an overall environmental consciousness characterize the whole project. The passengers will be offered innovative experiences regarding the product and service concepts.

First on the Baltic Sea with LNG

The vessel can operate on three different types of fuel: conventional heavy fuel oil, diesel, or LNG (liquefied natural gas), which produces lower emissions. When operating on LNG, the vessel complies with all new emissions regulations currently being developed by the EU.

Optimised Hull and Machinery

The vessel’s hull has been hydrodynamically optimised to minimise fuel consumption and reduce wake generation to the lowest possible level, which is particularly important when operating in archipelago waters. Its propulsion system is diesel-electric and gas-electric, designed to minimise energy consumption. To achieve maximum efficiency, the vessel is equipped with a new type of propeller specifically developed for passenger ships of this kind.

A Quiet Vessel Thanks to New Technology

Thanks to advanced noise-reduction technology, noise levels on board are exceptionally low. In practice, this makes the vessel remarkably quiet, both while underway and during port stays.

Engines from Wärtsilä

The vessel, which was built at the STX Turku shipyard in Finland, is equipped with engines, propellers and thrusters supplied by Wärtsilä.

dSign and Vertti Kivi

The vessel’s interior was designed by the Finnish architectural firm dSign.
