For us to be able to conclude an employment contract with you, that is, to "sign you on," you must bring the following:
- Medical certificate for ship personnel (submit the receipt for the medical certificate when you come aboard, and you will be reimbursed for the cost).
- Valid ID (preferably a passport, but an ID card with a photo is also accepted).
- Training diplomas and Security Awareness certificate.
- Any certificates of competency in original (for example, Basic Safety Training, lifeboat certificate, and certificates of competency for deck and engine).
- Certificate of previous sea service (may give seniority allowance).
- People working in a restaurant and kitchen need to have a hygiene passport and a Salmonella certificate/food handling certificate.
- Chefs may bring their own knives. There are work tools onboard, but if you are accustomed to using your own knives, work runs more smoothly.
- Certificate from culinary education/ship's cook qualification (if you have one).
- Bank account number.
- Contact information for next of kin.
- Tax card for maritime income.
- Own work shoes (fully enclosed and dark), safety shoes for warehouse, deck, engine, and kitchen staff, as well as AV technicians.
- Warm and comfortable clothes (not your finest) for safety drills onboard.
- Personal items (for example, toiletries).
- Workout clothes (if you are interested in exercising while onboard, a gym is available on all ships).
Towels, bed linens, soap, and toilet paper are among the cabin's basic amenities. Private clothes can be washed in the crew laundry room. Wireless Internet is available onboard, and in the mess, there is also a computer with an internet connection that the crew may use.
Remember that you must always have your certificates of competency and medical certificate with you in original (not copies). This applies every time you come aboard, not just the first time.
